“We don’t create trends. They are all around us. I always say that the past and future are present – you just need to pick up the signals and analyze them. One of the things we do is separate isolated patterns from underlying cultural movements.” – Lisa White, Head of the Vision, WGSN
It’s big in the game of trend! Athleisure is one of a kind. I instantly fell in love with this trend as soon as I saw it on celebrities and on the streets.
For those who are confused as to what the word athleisure means it “ refers to casual clothing — like yoga pants, sweat pants, and hoodies — that are designed to be worn both for exercising and for doing (almost) everything else” (Merriam-Webster, 2017)
Rihanna has launched her collection Fenty x Puma Spring 2018 with pieces that were inspired by athleisure aspects. Other celebrities such as Rita Ora who collaborated with Adidas in 2014 and Beyoncé who launched her own brand Ivy Park in 2016 in which both had to do with active wear.
This look has been taken from the catwalk and has trickled down to street.
Here are a few images of celebrities that have tried and styled this trend on:

Here are a few style tips on how to wear the athleisure trend this season:
Add the right accessories, for example:
Stylish backpack
Sunglasses
Hoop earrings
Thin chain necklace
Pair sweatpants with a leather jacket or denim jacket for a less glamorous look
Pair leggings with longer tops or tie shirts around the waist
Pair tracksuit pants with a lace body suit and heels for a dressed-up look
Add a colorful bomber jacket to the look
Pair tracksuits pants with fishnets underneath
Combine fashion items with sport pieces, for example wear a sports bra under a leather jacket
Pair a crop top with high waisted leggings
I’m done.
